Designers' Accent Edition
The Designers' Accent Edition Skyhawk (RPO Code D84) was introduced in 1979 and was also offered in 1980. The DAE Skyhawk was offered in two colours, Red (Paint Code 75) and Bright Yellow (Paint Code 51) in 1979 and Cinnabar (Paint Code 77) and Medium Yellow (Paint Code 50) in 1980. With the 1979 Red DAE, interior choices included Red, Tan and Black, while Tan and Black were the only interior choices for the Bright Yellow DAE. For 1980 there were no interior colour restrictions for either exterior colour. Black was the accent colour for both. The Designers' Accent Edition's lower half of the car was painted black with a body colour/black pinstriping decal used as a border between the 2 colours. A black accent Hawk decal on the hood and a 77-79 Monza-styled front air dam and rear spoiler rounded-out the appearances in this package. To end it, Buick also added a "Sporty Sounding" exhaust to the DAE. The pricing of this particular option was $175 in 1979 and $189 in 1980.
