The H-Body was offered with a variety of audio options for the buyer. Throughout the 6-year model run of the 2nd Generation of H-Bodies, there were 7 audio options as well as 1 speaker option.
The radios are listed below. All radio options were push-buttom models with concealed windshield antennas and noise suppression equipment (RPO U76 or UN9). The 8-track tape players did not become available till 1976 and the cassette player did not appear till 1979. Chevrolet also offered a unique digital radio for 1979 and '80 (RPO UY8).
For speakers, 1 single mono speaker was found under the centre of the dashboard and was included with all radio options. An optional rear speaker (RPO U80) was available or was included with all Stereo radios and tape players (both 8-track and cassette).
There was also a Radio Delete option (RPO UL5) which gave you a credit (around $50) and removed the windshield antenna and noise suppression equipment but included a plastic plate (either woodgrain or brushed aluminum) which clipped to your dashboard to cover up the holes that were in place to accomodate the radio and knobs.
GM offered other radio options on other model's but dealers were authorized and able to ad certain radio options to the H-Body, if requested from the buyer. These radios included higher-end AM/FM and tape (both 8-track and cassette) models, ElectronicTuning Radios and Citizens Band (CB) radios.
