1977 Monza Production Totals
34,133 - Monza Towne Coupe's
39,215 - Monza 2+2 Sport Hatchback's
A total of 73,348 Monza's were produced in 1977

The monza in its third year, again, saw few changes from the base model line-up with only the Towne Coupe and 2+2 Sport Hatchback being offered.  The 262 V8 engine was dropped altogether and the 305 V8 became the only V8 engine option.  The 2.3L, 2bbl L4 was still the only other engine option, which was standard.  The transmissions continued to include the 4 and 5-speed manuals and the Turbo-Hydra-Matic.
Minor changes included 3 new cabriolet vinyl roof
cover colour options (7 total), 8 new exterior colour
options (14 total), new digital clock (RPO UE8) in the
dashpad in front of the passenger's seat and new
tri-colour rear tail-lights for the Towne Coupe.
The Spyder package was dropped from the Towne
Coupe altogether but the Sport Hatchback featured a
bold new graphics decal package (RPO Z02) that was available with the Z01 Equipment package.  The Appearance package included a hood decal with a large Spyder dropping down webbing on the hump of the hood, a rear script 'Monza Spyder' decal on the rear spoiler and dual side stripes with 'Spyder' script on the door.
The Towne Coupe still offered the sport hatchback                                                                      front end but renamed it the "Sport Styling Option"                                                                         but with the same Z87 RPO Code as the 1976 "Sport                                                                        Front End Appearance" package.  So you could still                                                                        order the base Towne Coupe with dual round                                                                                   headlights or order the Z87 option on your Towne                                                                            Coupe and get the Quad rectangular headlight-look.
The Z60 Sport Equipment package was still offered                                                                     for the Towne Coupe as was the Cabriolet roof cover                                                                      option.  Both the Towne Coupe and Sport Hatchback came with distinct standard interiors but both could be ordered with Special Custom Interiors (RPO ZL9) as well.  The Towne Coupe also came with a 2nd interior upgrade which was part of this Z60 Sport package.
Production was down about 7,000 cars from
1976 so for '78, Chevrolet introduced a wide
variety of Monza options in an effort to jump-
start sales again.
